In 1939 a botany student from Edinburgh University named John Margaret came to the Valley of Flowers for research work. Unfortunately, while researching, she slipped from a rock and died. After some years in 1944, her sister came to the valley and she established a memorial stone in memory of Margaret. The line inscribed on the thoughtful memorial is - " I will lift my eyes unto the hills from whence cometh my strength". People believe that her spirit is still there in the valley.
